Paint and Varnish

So after seemly endless sanding inside and out its time to paint and Varnish.
I wiped the whole boat down with denatured alcohol to prepare the epoxy to recieve paint.
Then I started with two coats of Interlux Pre-Coat Primer.
Finally two coats of Interlux Brightsides Polyurethane paint in Saffire Blue. Wow is that blue!

I flipped the boat over and applied four coats of varnish to all exposed wood on the inside. All of this took time waiting 24 hours and sanding lightly between each coat of primer, paint and varnish. This puts me way behind my June 1st deadline to have it complete and in the water.

I did get a fun and interesting break at the end of all this when I escorted seven Chinese women in a 31 ft RV through Grand Tetons National Park and Yellowstone NP. I only knew two of them. My wife and her friend. An unusual and memorable time.

Primer

The paint is appied first to a small area with a roller...

and then take a foam brush to smooth it out called 'tipping out'.

Clearing space in my front garden for tomatoes. The back yard is now too shady.

I have no pictures of me actually applying varnish. My wife was away while I worked and she is responsible for the action shots.

Guess which one was the driver.
